Surf Fishing at Cape San Blas

Bait and Tackle Outfitters

Fishing Guides and Charters

One of the most popular activities at Cape San Blas, fishing can offer hours of very affordable enjoyment.

Surf Fishing:
Surf Fishing can be lots of fun, and you never know what you might catch! Most anglers use spin casting rigs, with weighted lines and fresh bait. If you're quick with a dip net, or learn how to throw a cast net, you can even catch your own live bait fish in the shallows close to shore. Small cast nets (called bait nets) are available from several local merchants.

Inshore Charter Fishing:
Many local guides are available to take your family on a fun-filled fishing adventure. These guides provide everything you need, and often fish the bay areas relatively close to shore. Typically, these smaller boats can accommodate from two to four guests. A typical day's catch might include redfish, speckled trout, flounder, and even a small shark or two.

Offshore Charter Fishing:
A popular "deep sea" fishing adventure can be found aboard one of the area's larger charter boats. These boats are equipped to handle the high seas, often traveling several miles offshore into the Gulf of Mexico to drop a line over one of the area's many artificial reefs. Typical catches include red snapper, grouper, flounder, amberjack, mahi-mahi, cobia and scamp.

Party Boat Fishing:
A recent addition to the area, The Fishin' Xpress is a party boat that operates out of the Port St. Joe Marina, just across the bay from Cape San Blas. Larger even than most charter boats, this boat can accommodate up to 40 guests.
